Ottawa, ON – Adventure travel specialist Great Canadian Trails is pleased to endorse Parks Canada's bison restoration project in Banff National Park after the animal's century-long absence. Announced earlier this month, the conservation project aims to foster cultural reconnection, inspire discovery, and provide learning opportunities for Canadians and visitors alike.

“Wildlife viewing is a popular activity for travellers, especially in Canada,” said Keri May, Operations Manager at Great Canadian Trails. “As part of a company who pioneered responsible tourism, we're extremely excited to see Parks Canada take a thoughtful, animal-focused approach to reintroducing bison to the park.”

According to Parks Canada, successfully reintroducing bison will create new opportunities for both locals and visitors to learn about the animal's ecological importance and connect with its cultural and historical value. It will also create a more authentic and distinctive national park experience – a fact that will positively impact tourism in the area.

Best known for its majestic mountains and glacial lakes, Banff National Park is Canada's first national park and a well-established tourist destination. To experience it in all its glory, Great Canadian Trails offers three fantastic itineraries for adventurers with high expectations on their quest to explore the country's vast wilderness.
