The Sarojin

The Sarojin, Thailand's luxurious 56-roomed boutique residence, held its 6th annual charity biked ride on December 1st raising over £2,400 (THB 104,600) for the local Camillian Social Centre, which provides services and education for some of Khao Lak's most vulnerable children.

150 people, including guests and staff of The Sarojin, cycled the 25km route from the Tsunami Police Boat Memorial, along the Pakarang Cape and Bangsak Beach to the Camillian Centre to raise funds to support the services, day care and rehabilitation that the centre provides for children with physical disabilities, autism and Down's Syndrome.

As part of the St. Camillus Foundation of Thailand, the Camillian Social Centre provides much-needed free-of-charge day care services for approximately 20 children aged between 4 and 16. The centre's programmes include psychological and social development, music, dance, art and daily physiotherapy care overseen by a doctor and team from Phang Nga Hospital, as well as home visits and counselling for families.

The Sarojin has worked with the centre since 2012, through the work of The Sarojin Khao Lak Community Fund. Guests of The Sarojin are welcome to visit the centre to learn more about its work and join staff and volunteers to assist with arts and crafts sessions with the children. The Sarojin also offers a “Street Food Cook For Kids”, during which guests can prepare a nutritious meal alongside The Sarojin's sous chef for the children.

Over the six annual bike rides, The Sarojin has raised over £15,000 (THB 632,181) for the Camillian Social Centre, in addition to its ongoing work with the charity.
