Ever hand-feed a giraffe or tickle a rhino's chin? You may get that once-in-a-lifetime experience by embarking on a safari adventure with a private guide at the San Diego Zoo�s Wild Animal Park. The Photo Caravan tours take guests on a canopy-covered safari truck through the expansive enclosures of East and South Africa, the Asian Plains and the Asian Waterhole for up-close photography opportunities of rare wildlife including rhinos, giraffes, cape buffalo, gazelles, wildebeest and much more.

The small, intimate tours are so popular that the Wild Animal Park has expanded the amount of tours available daily. Now tours begin as early as 10 a.m., while animal keepers and horticulture staff are still at work in the field.

Photo Caravan trucks take you right into the heart of the Park�s enormous field enclosures, offering a rare way to spend time with and learn about animals, not to mention a phenomenal photo opportunity! Your guide, an animal expert, will illuminate the ongoing drama and accompany you on a voyage of discovery. You'll learn about animal behavior and how the animals rely on each other, as well as about the habitats that they live in. The guide is also there to help you get great photos. Drivers are trained in situating the truck near the animals for the best photographic lighting conditions.

When you're out in the open field enclosures among the animals, you'll feel far away from life's daily grind without having to travel very far. Photo Caravan tours are available for passengers 8 and older. Several tours are available ranging from 1:45 -hour to 3:30 hours.
