Tunbridge Wells travel company, Pettitts, have created a unique, small group tour focused entirely on the cuisine of south India. This special 12 day tour, in association with CGH Earth Hotels, is accompanied by one of the group's Executive Chefs, as well as a local English speaking guide, and promises to be a very special experience. The tour departs on 18th March 2017.
Travelling from Chennai south through Tamil Nadu, through the spice and coffee plantations of the Western Ghats and ending by the sea in historic Fort Kochi, this tour explores the food, history and culture of the vast and cosmopolitan region of south India.
Highlights of the tour include a twenty-one dish wedding feast in Chettinad, a cookery class with an Executive Chef from CGH Earth Hotels, a day trip on a houseboat with a freshly prepared traditional backwaters lunch as well as lunch at one of Kochi's oldest restaurants. A rickshaw ride through Pondicherry, a visit to one of southern India's most impressive temples, time to explore a colourful and fragrant food market and a traditional lunch with a local plantation family all ensure that the tour will leave lasting memories.
