Peter Island Resort & Spa is pleased to announce the launch of the eagerly anticipated Peter Island-Athlon challenge, available all year round, ideal for guests looking for a fun-filled, scenic, athletic challenge and a new, adventurous way to enjoy the stunning private island in the British Virgin Islands.

The Island-Athlon has been created for guests looking for a boost of physical activity, a sense of achievement and the opportunity to support the local BVI community.

Peter Island has been working with Triathlon training experts to create this experience that will challenge guests all year round.

"In past years, most of our guests would claim a beach hammock and that would be the daytime activity for their entire vacation. Now every morning guests are running, hiking and biking the island's scenic 5-Mile Loop," states General Manager, Wilbert Mason.

"With the growing popularity of triathlon competitions, it occurred to us that Peter Island has all the land and sea components needed to create an athletic challenge that guests can enjoy during their stay. The recognition that comes with successfully completing the challenge, and the donation we make to a local charity on their behalf, are added benefits to the personal sense of accomplishment guests get from completing the challenge."

The Peter Island-Athlon challenge has two levels of difficulty:

 Islander Challenge - For active fitness fans

• ½ mile kayak
• 5-Mile Loop by bike
• 2 mile run/walk

Islander Challenge 2.0 - For hard-core workout warriors

• 1 mile swim in the calm waters of Deadman's Bay
• 2 laps by bike on the 5-Mile Loop (10 miles total)
• 1 lap run on the 5-Mile Loop

The Island-Athlon Challenge can be done by a single guest, couple or group.  A dedicated Athlon Coach monitors and times guests throughout the challenge. After successfully completing the course, guests will receive a certificate of achievement and a donation will be made by Peter Island to a local charity.

Guests who complete the course in record time will have their names and finish times placed on the Island-Athlon Challenge's plaque in the resort lobby. 

The Island-Athlon Challenge is priced at $250 (*£160 per person), 72 hours' notice is recommended to secure equipment, the Athlon Coach, and to set up the course. 

Nightly rates at Peter Island Resort & Spa start from US$385 (approx. £250*) based on two sharing an Ocean View Room on a Room Only basis.
