  • Sustainability is an important pillar for Peru during the World Travel Market 2022 and it's an essential part of their strategy diversifying and strengthening the image of the destination worldwide.
  • Peru will highlight the potential of birdwatching and will focus on adventure and nature promoting locations such as Lima and the South and North routes.
  • Supported by PROMPERU, 20 Peruvian companies are attending the event.

London, 31 October 2022 - The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PROMPERU) has announced that Peru is attending World Travel Market 2022, one of the most important international tourism fairs, held in London between the 7th and 9th of November.

Amora Carbajal, executive president of PROMPERÚ says:

"Our country will participate with a stand of 200 square meters which aims to demonstrate the best of what Peruvian tourism has to offer, with the objective of diversifying and strengthening the image of our country and contributing to our return on the global stage".

Carbajal also highlighted that twenty Peruvian companies will be present at the commercial event to promote themselves and showcase their adventure, nature, and sustainability products to 50 thousand international visitors. "The fair will allow entrepreneurs to make important commercial appointments with professionals in the sector, seeking to ensure commitments for more than $800 thousand by the end of the event," she said.

As such, a diverse selection of destinations will be promoted such as Lima, Ica, Arequipa, Cusco, Puno and Madre de Dios; as well as the northern route with a particular emphasis on Lambayeque, La Libertad, Loreto, San Martín, Cajamarca and Amazonas. This will allow PROMPERÚ to exhibit tourist attractions across different regions, hand in hand with birdwatching: an incredibly important activity for the economic growth of Peruvian regions.

The Peruvian stand will display the best of their gastronomy through tastings of coffee, pisco sour and chocolate in a bar on-site for the occasion. Spaces will also be allocated to celebrate the rich cultural diversity thanks to the live performance of various dances such as festejo, landó, zapateo, marinera norteña, arequipeño carnival, danz del ukuku, valicha, diablada, danza de tijeras, danza de la boa, and danza de shipibo, as well as typical costumes of corresponding region.

It is important to remember that international tourism fairs are commercial events for the exhibition of tourist services where the supply and demand of the tourism industry of multiple countries converge. As a result, the participation of PROMPERÚ during the World Travel Market aims to rejuvenate international travel and foreign exchange generated by the tourism sector, by providing an international showcase and a space for Peruvian companies to market their tourism products and adopt new trends within the travel industry.
