Spring has arrived in the ski fields and Perisher Blue is ready to rock the mountains with some awesome skiing and boarding and now, the inaugural Spring Carnival.
The Spring Carnival is new to Perisher Blue this season and will see stacks of parties, entertainment and events taking place over the next month and a half.
It all kicks off tomorrow with the 23rd annual Carlton Draught Pub To Pub Cross-Country Classic. This event is one of the most popular activities on the ski season calendar. As usual, serious competitors and crazy entrants, dressed in fancy costumes, will ski to five pubs, across the resort and drink five beers - all in the name of fun!
Then, this weekend, the final round of the Garnier Fructis Australian Open 2005 Snowboarding Championships will be held at Perisher Blue. Some of the worlds best riders will compete for a share in the $60 000 prize pool. The slope style final takes place on Saturday and the super pipe final is on Sunday.
Coming up on 9-10 September is the Boost Mobiles King Of The Rails night. Here you will be able to witness snowboarders attempt the world's longest rail slide under lights, down Front Valley. It is a Guinness Book of World Records sanctioned event and will test only the best.
Hot New Zealand band, Evermore will be performing along with End of Fashion on the night so if you are a fan of great music you will definitely be rewarded!
Also in the resort for the next two weekends is the MTV snow cave. Located on Front Valley, visitors can chill out in the purpose built igloo with a free massage, some delicious snacks and watch video clips on the huge plasma screen.
As part of the Spring Carnival there will be regular musicians, comedy acts, artists and street theatre taking place at various venues around the resort.
For the night owls, movies and stories under the stars, snow shoeing at twilight, progressive dinners and comedy nights will all be held.
To make spring at the snow even more enjoyable, Perisher Blues Spring Pass is now available for sale. It costs $573 for adults and $315 for children and includes the use of the Skitube! For adults this works out to be approximately $13 per day!
So do not waste anymore time, book your ski holiday today and you could be cruising the Snowy Mountains under the sunshine and then partying the season away!
