Perisher Blue Assists with Youth Program

The NSW Police have established a Youth Mentoring Program to assist children aged 8 to 15 years, often from single parent families.

Targeting those that do not have an active adult role model in their lives, the program gives incentives for teens and pre-teens to attend school and improve their conduct.

Having found that the nexus between not attending school and committing crime, the Police firstly started visiting homes to speak with youth about the positives of school and the negatives of committing criminal offences.

A plan is then set up by the Home School Liaison Officer with each of the kids and their individual school about behaviour and attendance. Said Adam Sutton, from the Queanbeyan Police. If they start to work on improving and meeting their goals and objectives of the plan, we endeavour to reward them in some way. Continued Mr Sutton.

Perisher Blue came to the party last Friday September 17th by offering three, eleven-year-old boys a days skiing and boarding in the resort.

Complete with equipment, clothing, a lesson, lunch and Skitube rail transport to and from the resort, the kids were treated to a day they will never forget.

This is a great gesture by Perisher Blue, in the past we have been able to take some kids to Canberra Raiders games, but this is fantastic. Stated Mr Sutton.

With the snowy mountains currently experiencing one of the best seasons ever, the children were greeted with fantastic snow conditions and a fine sunny day at Perisher Blue.

We applaud this initiative by the NSW Police and we are proud to support the program. Said Mr Peter Brulisauer Deputy CEO Perisher Blue.

Perisher Blue is only too happy to assist, albeit in a small way, with this project as kids are our future. Mr Brulisauer concluded.

All of the boys that visited Perisher Blue on Friday had never been to the snow before, so it was certainly something to remember for them
