Peppers Convent Hunter Valley will be adding a new feather to its cap with the opening of restaurant Eighty Eight, their second on the Estate.
Like all venues in the Hunter Valley, Peppers is a 2-night weekend stay, so guests will now be delighted by two unique dining experiences on the Estate- Roberts Circa 1876 and now restaurant Eighty Eight.
The restaurant name is taken from the lot number of Peppers Convent on Halls Road – and as it is such an auspicious number, it has been melded firmly into the title. The figure 8 represents infinity - therefore, two eights seen together denote "infinite prosperity". Double eights can also symbolise happy relationships, or can enhance an existing relationship or bring a new one into your life. All these bode well for a new restaurant set in the heart of a hotel that is the scene for so many marriage proposals and nuptials!
As with Roberts Circa 1876, restaurant Eighty Eight will be under the direction of highly esteemed Executive Chef George Francisco.
With an emphasis on integrity of ingredient and nourishment, Francisco states "All items on this menu are ethically sourced. They are organically grown on the property, gathered or acquired locally or sustainably farmed. These ingredients have been nurtured by nature, prepared with respect and cooked with love. The meal that you eat is the culmination of every step in this important process, imbued with goodness".
There will also be a heavy focus on being able to cater to all dietary preferences: once guests book and advise their allergies, intolerances, dislikes, and dietary preferences they will not have to worry about them again throughout their meal. There will be no judgment, nor intolerant wait staff – just attentiveness and a unique sensory experience.
It is expected that restaurant Eighty Eight will be a popular destination for private functions – weddings, corporate events and parties.
Situated only two hours from Sydney, Peppers Convent is beautifully located in the Hunter Valley amidst lush gardens and vineyards. Built in 1909 as home to the Brigidine Order of nuns, it was transported to Pokolbin in 1990, and extensively restored in 2014. It is the combination of location, architecture and ambience that makes The Convent the most magical venue in the Hunter - earning her a nomination in the 2014 World Luxury Hotel Awards.
