Not many of you would have seen Pepe blush but blush he did when he saw his story on the big screen at Sydney's Tropfest last year. Back in December QANTAS premiered their 'Our Australia' short film campaign which showcases 8 inspiring stories from around Australia and Pepe is honoured to be N.S.W's story. The films have been playing on QANTAS flights and in cinemas around Australia and between you and me, Mrs Pepe is worried that Pepe is starting to fancy himself a bit of a movie star.
John Fairley of Country Valley Dairy in Picton also features in the film. John and Pepe have been working together for years and the farmer/producer relationship is at the core of Pepe's philosophy. 'Pasture to plate', says Pepe 'it all comes full circle. The land is such an important part of what and how we eat.'
Take a peek at the lush land around Picton in the 'Our Australia' film on Pepe's Blog ('Pepe's Blog' is a hyper link to http://butterandco.tumblr.com/post/69518553923/pepe-saya-australian-cultured-butter-new-south)
Sometimes our families can be embarrassing but there's nothing embarrassing about belonging to the St Ali family. Pepe Saya and the people at St Ali share a passion for homegrown produce, crafted with care and passion so it's no wonder that they are teaming up along with Chef Andrew Gale (The Dutchess of Spotswood) and some spectacular local producers to bring you a Butter Making Master Class on February 11th and a seasonal four course meal that will inspire your love of good food, locally sourced on 13th.
Join us for these family events in the name of all things Australian and artisan.
Butter Masterclass - 11th Feb 6:30-8:30pm at The Dutchess of Spotswood
Producer Dinner - 13th Feb 6:30-9pm at St Ali South
More details can be found on Pepe's Facebook page or the attached flyers.
The people at InterContinental Sydney deeply impressed Pepe when they said that like Pepe, their philosophy is to guarantee quality by working with the freshest ingredients and to foster sustainability through supporting local producers. That focus on local is unusual coming from a large international company but then they went further and put their money where their mouth is.
For the month of February InterContinental Sydney is featuring Pepe Saya butter. Every time a guest orders room service they will be able to enjoy a 25g round of hand cut Pepe Saya butter as they read the story behind its origins on a specially printed card.
Thanks Intercontinental Sydney for supporting local.
Things to tickle your fancy and your tastebuds:
A huge shout out to Country Valley Dairy (our partner in all things 'Moo') which is celebrating it's 10th anniversary on 22nd Feb. In this era of mass produced and mechanised it is praise worthy indeed to see a small farmer continuing to produce great quality milk and cream from his happy, healthy cows.
8-9 Feb - Pepe Saya products will proudly be represented at the 2nd Rootstock Festival at Carriageworks in Sydney.
11th Feb - The Dutchess of Spotswood in Victoria is hosting a Pepe Saya Butter Masterclass from 6:30-8:30pm
12 Feb - Pepe Saya and Duncan Garvey of Perigord Truffles will be down in Tassie visiting their supporters and spreading the butter love
13th Feb - The fine folks at St Ali in Melbourne are playing host to a Producer Dinner from 6:30-9pm
17th Feb - The CEO Cook Off is on again. Pepe is proud to support this Oz Harvest event for the 3rd year and to help raise mindfulness about food waste.
