GRACE BAY, Turks and Caicos – Everyone has a story to tell and a unique voice with which to tell it. The Somerset on Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos invites writers and aspiring writers for a Writer's Workshop with author and columnist, Annabel Monaghan.

The Somerset's esteemed setting on one of the world's most sought-after beaches will provide an inspiring creative environment as Monaghan guides guests who seek to improve their writing at any skill level. Monaghan will lead novice writers, help those suffering from writer's block and even show seasoned authors how to bring their writing to the next level.

The Writer's Workshop is complimentary for guests staying at The Somerset during November 9 and 10, 2014.  Each day includes:

  • Morning session: Begin with concrete instruction on generating and developing ideas and characters, finding the author's most authentic voice, and exchanging the unique challenges that life as a writer poses. Writers are asked to bring their great idea, messy first drafts and questions about writing, pitching, publishing and Hollywood.
  • Midday solo session:  Each participant will have this time to begin using their newly acquired skills to individually further their writing.
  • Afternoon session: Reconvene to share what each writer accomplished and receive feedback from the group. This session will be perfectly timed to end with cocktails and the spectacular Caribbean sunset.

Monaghan is an established author having penned two novels for young adults: A Girl Named Digit and Double Digit (both Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), and co-author of Click! The Girls Guide to Knowing What You Want and Making it Happen (Simon and Schuster). A Girl Named Digit is currently in development as a Disney Channel movie.  Monaghan is also a lifestyle columnist for The Week and writes a regular column for The Rye Record. She is a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post.

When workshop guests aren't practicing their prose, tweaking their musings and developing plots, they may relax on the private beach or in the oceanfront infinity pool, rejuvenate at the spa or stay active with complimentarypedal bicycles to cruise around Grace Bay.  Additional amenities include a fitness center with steam room, snorkeling equipment, kayaks, Hobie Cat sailboats, croquet and more.

For reservations and to check availability, please call toll-free (877) 887-5722, the resort direct at (649) 339-5900, or speak to a travel professional. For more details or to book online, visit www.thesomerset.com.
