British Guild of Travel Writers member Paul Healy was named Blogger of the Year at the virtual Travel Media Awards ceremony held on Monday 25 January 2021 for his travel blog Anywhere We Roam.
In a field of high-calibre travel bloggers, Anywhere We Roam was selected for several pieces about local travel insights.
One of these was Cuba's awkward move to a semi-capitalist economy, and how the lives of locals earning a living from private ventures is bringing small changes to a tourist industry where the hotel sector is run by the military.
Paul's selected writing also included a piece about the Sani Pass; the nail-biting drive up a sinuous rocky road to the mountain kingdom of Lesotho in southern Africa, and highlights from his pre-lockdown trips to Morocco.
Anywhere We Roam provides detailed location guides and local insights with a focus on the historical, political and socio-economic factors that shape travel experiences. You can follow along via Instagram: @anywhere_we_roam or on Twitter @anywhereweroam
