Qantas has appointed Patrick Stringer to the new role of Group General Manager Strategy and New Business Asia for the Qantas Group, based in Hanoi.
Mr Stringer joins the Qantas Group directly from the Australian Trade Commission where he held the position of Minister-Counsellor (Commercial) and Senior Trade Commissioner to Vietnam.
Qantas Chief Financial Officer, Mr Peter Gregg, said the role had been established to assist the Qantas Group to take advantage of the full range of business opportunities in expanding Asian markets.
�Patrick will be responsible for advancing the business position of the Qantas Group throughout the Asia region. This will include coordinating opportunities for all Qantas Group operations, from the flying businesses including Qantas and Jetstar, to our freight and service divisions,� Mr Gregg said.
�Patrick�s previous Government and aviation industry experience makes him the ideal person for this role. He will be responsible for building the government and business relationships that will be integral to the success of the Qantas Group in Asia."
�Patrick brings a wealth of aviation experience to the role. Prior to the Trade Commission, he held senior profit centre and marketing positions with global companies in the aerospace, automotive, and defence sectors including Ansett, British Aerospace, BAE Systems and Volvo.�
