Rydges Plaza Cairns

Mr Rob von Hartitzsch has been appointed General Manager of Rydges Plaza Cairns.  He took up his position last month following the transfer of former General Manager, Fareid Taheri to QT Resort Falls Creek (operating formerly as Quay West Resort & Spa).

With a hospitality career spanning 16 years, Mr von Hartitszch has held a number of food and beverage management positions across Australia and New Zealand, most recently as the Food and Beverage Manager of Rydges Wellington's from its pre-opening phase to now.  He also worked as the Food and Beverage Manager of James Cook Hotel in Wellington for two years as well as the Wellington Park Royal.  Rob also spent two years in Melbourne where he held food and beverage management roles for both Melbourne Centra and Travelodge hotels.

"A major part of my role at Rydges Wellington was establishing the Portlander Bar & Grill - an innovative restaurant concept that has been a huge success from the time it opening 10 months ago.  I am looking very forward to this next step in my career and am excited at the reality of living in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia," he said.

In announcing his appointment, Area General Manager of Rydges Hotels and Resorts in Cairns, Matthew Hurley said Rob's strong background in food and beverage makes him perfectly suited to take the reins from Fareid. 

"With its inner-city location making it a popular venue for meetings and events as well as being home to Lilo Bar as an all-occasion party place, Rydges Plaza's food and beverage operations command a strong focus and are key to the hotel's success.
