And that's not all...........
Park City Mountain – the biggest ski resort in the USA
Friday, December 18th 2015 marked the start of a new era in Park City and indeed in the world of skiing, as the Quicksilver gondola began operation after a ribbon cutting ceremony, connecting the ski areas of Canyons with Park City, creating the biggest lift connected single ski area in the USA.
The new high speed gondola will take guests from the base of the existing Silverlode Lift at Park City to the Flatiron Lift area at Canyons. There will also be an additional mid-station at the top of Pine Cone Ridge, allowing skiers and riders the opportunity to ski into Thaynes Canyon for off piste access or to the Iron Mountain area through new trails. What this means to skiers and boarders is a ski area comprising 7,300 acres of terrain with 41 ski lifts and more than 300 runs.
Rob Katz, chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts and Bill Rock, Chief Operating Officer of Park City were on hand for the celebration, joining community leaders and resort guests for the opening ceremony in front of Quicksilver. “On this historic day for our company, the debut of the Quicksilver Gondola connecting the two mountains brings to life one of the most ambitious capital projects undertaken at any resort in industry history,” said Rob Katz, chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts. “Bill Rock and his team have delivered on their promise to create an experience of a lifetime at Park City and we hope all of our guests enjoy everything that this world-class mountain and iconic mountain town have to offer.”
