Jean-Charles de Castelbajac celebrates Paradiski's 10th Birthday
On the 17th October 2013 at the Musée Grévin Museum in Paris, Paradiski - the large ski domain in Savoie, France [Les Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry and la Plagne] announced its unique collaboration with the world renowned fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. The task? To decorate the Vanoise Express cable car, the largest cable car in the world, for its 10th Birthday this winter.
For its anniversary, Paradiski gave Carte Blanche to designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. He was enlisted to decorate the two, double-decker cable cars. The Vanoise Express with its panoramic views made the creation of Paradiski possible. It was without hesitation that the internationally renowned haute-couture designer, one of the symbolic creators of our time, accepted this unique task.
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's undertaking for Paradiski was revealed this evening during a 10 year anniversary party at the Musée Grévin , Paris.
In his own words, here is what Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has to say on the creation for Paradiski - with a literal English translation:
Partir rever sur un fil
[Go dreaming on a wire]
Aux merveilles d'une aube blanche
[The wonder of a white dawn]
Renaitre oiseau sur ma branche
[Reincarnate as a bird on a branch]
Au Coeur des vallees subtiles
[At the heart of the subtle valleys]
Danse, beaute nature magique
[Dance, beauty, magical nature]
I les volantes d'une rive a l'autre
[Flying from one side to the other]
Sensuel Telefeerique
[A sensual cable car]
Kool, la poudreuse cosmonaute
[Cool, space-powder snow]
Inviter l'ange a voler
[Invite the angel to fly]
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac
From the 21st December and throughout the winter, thousands of Vanoise Express passengers will see the unique design cloaking the cable cars in celebration of its 10 years thanks to Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac
"Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is one of the symbolic creators of our time, known as much for his creations as for this complete and multi-faceted work of art, established for decades. His thinking generates a thousand concepts in a thousand directions, giving rise to a sound, a collaboration, a "mise-en-secne", a drawing. A complex artist who is not solely defined by the restrictive field of fashion." James Bort, Photographer
