Owner of London-based Barrafina opens restaurant in Palma

London restaurateur and owner of the popular London-based Barrafina tapas chain, Eddie Hard, has recently opened a new trendy restaurant-bar on the Calle Brondo in the centre of Palma. Under the slogan 'celebrating simplicity', El Camino Palma serves traditional Mallorcan dishes, paired with local wines. The restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday from 13.00 until 16.00 and from 18.00 until 23.30 and does not accept reservations. www.elcaminopalma.es

Hotel Boutique Sant Jaume launches new restaurant

Luxury five-star hotel boutique Sant Jaume has opened a new restaurant called Fabiola Gastronomic Garden. Lead by chef Juan Melis, the menu features Mediterranean cuisine made with fresh Mallorcan ingredients, which diners can enjoy in a relaxed atmosphere, in a décor reminiscent of a wild garden. Iconic Mallorcan bakery reopens in the heart of Palma

The 'Forn des Teatre' – Palma's famously authentic bakery has recently reopened as 'Fornet de la Soca' after a short renovation. The historic bakery located off La Rambla, has been taken over by baker Tomeu Arbona, who has created a menu that blends traditional recipes with a modern flair. Visitors can come and enjoy famed Mallorcan pastries such as ensaimadas (sweet 'brioche' – type pastry), sweet and savory empanadas and turron, in an authentic setting. www.fornetdelasoca.com

Popular Diablito Food & Music launches in Palma 

After a successful opening in Puerto Portals, famous eatery 'Diabolito Food & Music' has launched in the centre of Palma. Es Baluard launches new 'art books exchange' point

Es Baluard – Palma's famous contemporary art museum – has introduced a new 'art book exchange' point in its café, where art and book lovers can come to swap books and find out about new publications. The book collection in the space will be updated during each exchange and will feature editions related to contemporary art, painting, sculpture and photography. Access to the book exchange is free and is open from Tuesday to Sunday during the museum's opening hours until 31 December 2018. A meeting will be held every first Tuesday of the month to inform participants about new editions. www.esbaluard.org

Stick No Bills

Palma has recently welcomed the opening of a new art gallery further expanding the city's eclectic art and culture offering. Stick No Bills Posters have opened a European 'sister' flagship outlet to their Galle Fort-based Asia flagship in the heart of Palma's historic centre. The intimate gallery showcases beautifully framed museum standard limited edition prints of Stick No Bills' extensive vintage and retro travel poster collections. Mallorca Marathon   

On 14 October, Palma will welcome back the Mallorca Marathon which offers a 10k, a half marathon and a full length marathon. The race starts by the sea on the Passeig Marítim (seafront promenade), opposite the Palma cathedral and offers one of Europe's most attractive running routes. TapPalma – Palma's traditional tapas festival

From 15 to 19 November, Palma will welcome the 13th edition of TaPalma, a celebration of contemporary and traditional tapas made in the city. Restaurants across the city offer specially created tapas for around €2, and every year a judging panel selects the best tapas and chef in the city. The event features nine tapas routes including: Santa Catalina, Paseo Maritimo, Central Palma, Blanquerna, Genova, Portixol, Palma Beach, Mercado de San Juan, and Marratxi.
