From October 2018 to April 2019, the Balearic capital of Palma, welcomed 134,725 visitors from the UK, representing a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2018 when 123,590 British travellers visited the Mediterranean city.
From January to April 2019, Palma also welcomed a total of 226,974 national and international visitors representing a 17.8% increase compared to the same period in 2018.
The rise in visitor numbers during the winter months reflects a growing appetite for cultural city breaks rather than beach holidays and contributes to the tourism board's objective of growing out-of-season travellers.
Boasting a vast tourist offering outside of the high season, Palma acts as a driving force to encourage low season travel to the island of Mallorca, with many visitors opting to use Palma as a base to explore other destinations in Mallorca.
Under the slogan 'Passion for Palma', the tourist campaign focuses on four key themes including gastronomy, sport, shopping and culture, with the aim of strengthening Palma's position as an attractive, year-round city break destination.
