This autumn, the Balearic Island capital, Palma, showcases its increasing contemporary arts offering with premier art event Nit d'Art on 22 September, the opening of new gallery 'Stick No Bills' and exposition 'Miró, a wild spirit' exploring the roots of Miró's work at Miró Mallorca.

La Nit de l'Art

On 22 September Palma celebrates La Nit de l'Art, Mallorca's premier art event marking the beginning of the art season in the city. Around 15,000 visitors will descend on the city to peruse some of the most exciting exhibitions, performances, video-installations and urban installations in a mix of traditional art venues such as cafes, private apartments, studios, balconies and facades of historic buildings. www.nitdelartartpalma.com

Stick No Bills

Palma has recently welcomed the opening of a new art gallery further expanding the city's eclectic art and culture offering. Located in the heart of the historic centre, 'Stick No Bills' is an intimate gallery showcasing retro-style posters, vintage images and enchanting illustrations depicting sites such as the port of Soller, the Mallorca Cathedral and Mallorca's seaside in the 1960's.  www.sticknobillsonline.com

Miró Mallorca

A 'must-see' for art enthusiasts, Miró Mallorca is a museum that honours the life and works of Catalan artist Joan Miró who spent the later part of his life living and working in Mallorca. Current exhibition 'Miró, a wild spirit' explores the roots of Miró's work including primitive culture and popular art, Romanesque frescoes, Antoni Gaudí's architecture, poetry, and his subsequent approach to American Abstract Expressionism and Oriental art.  www.miromallorca.com

Es Baluard

No trip to Palma would be complete without visiting Es Baluard; one of Spain's most important museums of modern and contemporary art showcasing a collection of over 600 works of art, all linked to the Balearic Islands.
