As Palma de Mallorca's most well-known Regatta the Copa del Rey gets underway, the Balearic capital is also putting plans into place for its autumn sporting events; the Palma de Mallorca Marathon and Mallorca Classic Car Week.
This week, Palma de Mallorca celebrates the Copa del Rey (30 July-6 August) welcoming international celebrities, Spanish Royalty and some of the world's most accomplished sailors for a week of off-shore competitions and onshore festivities. Now one of the largest Regattas in the Mediterranean and one of the most prestigious in Europe, the event is part of the 52 Super Series and of the Soto 40 European Tour 2016. The Regatta dates back to 1982 and now has more than 120 sailing boats and 1500 participants.
Whilst the first few days are scheduled for entries, and the race itself will commence on Monday 3rd August 2016, located at the world renowned organisation, The Real Club Nautico de Palma, in the Bay of Palma. This year introduces a festival-feel with live music, bars, cafes and restaurants set up in Sa Feixina Park between Santa Catalina and Es Baluard.

Palma de Mallorca Marathon (16 October):
Palma looks forward to hosting the second edition of the renamed Palma de Mallorca Marathon (formerly known as the Tui Marathon) on October 16th offering a 10k, a half marathon and a full length marathon. The race starts by the sea in the Passeig Marítim, opposite the Palma cathedral and transports runners through Palma's picturesque Old Town, making it one of Europe's most attractive marathon routes.
The marathon is an event that the whole family can enjoy with shorter fun runs including the 'Breakfast Run', as well as a kids run the morning before the main event. The kids run is a free race for children aged between 2 and 12, aiming to make the event as inclusive as possible promoting solidarity and team spirt. This year the theme will be 'follow the sun'.

Mallorca Classic Week (21-25 September)
From the 21st-25th September Palma de Mallorca and Port Adriano will present one week of classic cars, motorcycles and yachts to be raced, spectated and enjoyed by individuals, families and car enthusiasts, all in the means of charity.
Classic cars and motorcycles are fast becoming as much of a feature of Mallorca as the many beautiful classic yachts that pass through the island.
A welcome BBQ will take place in Palma de Mallorca on 21 September with subsequent events taking place in Port Adriano, less than a half hour drive away.
The event will see classic cars and motorcycles over 25 years old participating in a stylish and elegant fashion with entrants adding to the atmosphere by being asked to dress in a contemporary style fitting the period of their vehicles.
