Palm Springs Launches New Destination Website For LGBT Couples

Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism

To celebrate California's new same-sex marriage laws, the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism has launched a new website to help LGBT couples plan their big day or honeymoon in one of the top destinations for gay and lesbian travellers. WeddingsinPalmSprings.com features information on hotels, historic inns, gay-friendly resorts and other wedding locations that showcase the beauty and laid-back vibe of Palm Springs.

The new website is packed with useful information for gay and lesbian couples. From party suppliers and event planners to caterers, florists and advice on wedding licences, the site acts as a comprehensive online planning resource for wedding arrangements in Palm Springs. There is also a complete destination guide with ideas on how to enjoy the perfect honeymoon.

Now in its 75th year as an integrated city, Palm Springs has long been considered an ideal destination for gay and lesbian weddings. The city has the largest collection of LGBT resorts in the United States with nearly 30 gay and lesbian-owned and/or operated resorts and guesthouses. Many of these properties cater to the gay honeymoon market with a range of romantic packages and on-site ceremonies, while full-service hotels, smaller boutiques and vacation home rentals offer additional space for grand celebrations and family gatherings.

Palm Springs is also famous for hosting a series of world-renowned gay and lesbian events throughout the year. These include Dinah Shore Weekend, held every April and hailed as the largest female party music festival in the world; and the White Party which is famed for being one of the largest gay circuit events in the USA. The annual gay and lesbian film festival, Cinema Diverse, showcases the best in LGBT filmmaking annually in September, while the Palm Springs Pride Festival attracts thousands of fun-loving participants every November.

Last month, hundreds of supporters gathered in downtown Palm Springs at the "Forever Marilyn" sculpture to celebrate the resumption of same-sex marriages in California.

"Our new website is designed to help same-sex couples plan their perfect wedding in Palm Springs," comments Mary Jo Ginther, Director of Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism. "Weddings in Palm Springs capture the essence and style of Hollywood regency, desert modernism, old world glamour and romantic Spanish hideaways - all complemented by sunny blue skies, a gorgeous mountain backdrop and our truly laid-back way of life."
