Stay In Cornwall predicts a record 2014 after reporting a significant increase in those searching for holidays in the county. So far this year, the accommodation website has seen a 21% surge in those looking for a holiday in Cornwall. The most popular town was Padstow, followed closely by both St Ives and Newquay.
Despite the economic pressures it would appear that people are hoping to treat themselves to a break, with the site also seeing a 99% increase in luxury searches during the first week of the year.
With recent studies showing that consumers are becoming more spontaneous and the summer heatwave of 2013 giving people more confidence when booking a holiday in the UK, Stay In is optimistic that this year will be the best yet.
Managing Director, James Morris said: "It's great to see that Cornwall is proving to be a popular holiday destination and is gaining more interest every year. Cornwall has so much to offer and it's refreshing to know that people are considering a holiday in the UK."
Stay In spoke to independent cottage company holidaycottages.co.uk who also reported an 18% increase in visitors compared with this time last year.
