Luxury boltholes on Cornwall's HelfordRiver are hard enough to come by, but work has begun in the grounds of the Budock Vean hotel on an exclusive set of holiday homes which will give a lucky few their very own slice of this Cornish paradise.
As well as top to toe views across the 65 acres of tumbling lawns and gardens running down to the Helford, the new houses will give owners and their guests use of the hotel's luxurious pool complex, golf course and tennis courts - all set in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
They will also be on the doorstep of the Budock Vean's famous bar and restaurant – one of Cornwall's best with specialities including local seafood and game – and the luxuries of the Natural Health Spa.
Work has just started on the three-bedroom properties – which are being built and finished to the highest standard with cool, minimal interiors, log-burners and floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking long-established sub-tropical gardens.
“We've worked so carefully on the plans for these new homes because they have to be exactly right,” says Martin Barlow, whose family has owned the Budock Vean for three generations. “They have to sit in this beautiful landscape as if they've always been here – and certainly enhance rather than detract from it.
“Our team of designers and builders Steve Coombe, Richard Thomas Partnerships and Nova Construction have been fantastic and I know in a few months' time we'll be looking at beautiful dwellings we are really proud of and that will give a few lucky owners a piece of this special part of the world.”
Each of the detached properties will be sold on a managed-lease basis – maintained, managed and let by the Budock Vean team, guaranteeing a regular income when owners are not in Cornwall.
“Our regular guests are well aware of what a break at the Budock Vean is all about,” says Martin. “Our walks, river, beaches and seas are all very precious and our luxury houses will add another dimension to what we can offer – completely in keeping with the quality and sensitivity of our natural surroundings.”
