Ovolo The Valley, hits the heart of Brisbane’s vibrant and cultural precinct of Fortitude Valley, as it officially launches today, Thursday 29th November 2018.
Inspired by the eclectic culture and iconic history of Fortitude Valley, Ovolo The Valley draws guests into a whimsical oasis of colour and art, with surprising hints of quirkiness, custom wallpaper, eccentric furniture and illustrations curated throughout all spaces and rooms.
The launch of Ovolo The Valley marks another milestone for the boutique designer hotel collection behind two of Australia’s top five hotels*. It is the second Queensland hotel to fall under the design-led hotel group, following the successful opening of Ovolo Inchcolm earlier this year.
With a rooftop swimming pool looking over the unique vista of Fortitude Valley, Ovolo The Valley comprises of a gym, a sauna and a unique meeting room aptly named, ‘B.I.G’. The large-scale project was led by acclaimed global architecture firm, Woods Bagot, who are the award-winning designers behind the revitalisation of The Ivy, Sydney and The Garden House, Melbourne.
The exceptional design and bespoke aesthetic encompass guests from the moment they step into the foyer and throughout all 103 rooms. Intended as a design-seeker’s paradise, Ovolo The Valley serves up a frenzy of rich colour, commissioned art pieces, vivid wallpaper and playful furniture that radiates with personality and a whole lot of fabulous.
Guests have the opportunity to select from five unique styles of rooms; each designed to cater to different specifications including:
• Medium - designed for comfort and ideal for short stays
• Large - open plan design to ensure guests feel right at home
• Large Spa - large open plan with their very own spa bath
• The Valley Suites - with their very own private top floor balcony
• Rockstar Suites - the perfect place to balance a little work and a lot of play
Just like their namesake, the Rockstar Suites are fabulous, with an extra indulgent king size bed, separate lounge, bar and dining area featuring a dining table, arm chairs, speaker unit and original art pieces by Daniel R. Watkins and Gerwyn Davies.
Art Curator, Kathleen Wilson, was commissioned to create playful and quirky artwork pieces for the hotel’s unique public spaces, all of which has helped to bring this design seekers wonderland to life.
“I’m so excited to have been able to work on this incredibly creative project. Ovolo The Valley brings magic to the heart of Brisbane. The hotel really is something special” said Ms Wilson.
Ovolo Hotel’s ‘effortless living’ ethos is no stranger at Ovolo The Valley with 24-hour room service, large flat-screen televisions, Google Chromecast, additional wall plugs, phone chargers in every room and Amazon’s Alexa cloud-based voice service, able to assist guests with just about every command. Ovolo The Valley, like the group’s other hotels, will be a home-away-from-home for those who stay.
Founder and CEO of the Ovolo Group, Girish Jhunjhnuwala is confident Ovolo The Valley will be a leader within the Brisbane hotel market.
“Our brief to Woods Bagot was that each of our hotels must have their own unique personality and style, inspired by local surrounds, culture, heritage and Ovolo’s playful, forward-thinking spirit, and they’ve delivered exactly that.”
“There is an element of fantasy, escapism and play in Ovolo The Valley. We’re positioning it as the perfect contemporary oasis to escape our busy urban lives,” said Mr Jhunjhnuwala.
As a brand standard, guests who book directly with Ovolo will receive complimentary Wi-Fi, self-laundry, breakfast, social happy hour, mini-bar and loot bag full of treats.
A brand new and exciting restaurant and bar concept is due to launch at Ovolo The Valley in early 2019. Renowned chef and restauranteur, Justin North heads up his second project with Ovolo Hotels, following his recent venture at Sydney’s Ovolo 1888 darling Harbour’s restaurant, Mister Percy; and the award-winning master minds behind Luchetti Krelle, will lead the interior design – more to follow in 2019.
Tourism Industry Development Minister, Kate Jones, said that today’s announcement was a great milestone for Brisbane.
“We’re proud that Girish has chosen yet again to bring his unique Ovolo style and sensibility to Brisbane,” she said.
“The group have seized the opportunity to reposition and deliver one of the city’s most well-known hotels into a new era with the Ovolo The Valley.
“Following on from the Ovolo Inchcolm opening last year, we see the group’s second hotel as a major vote of confidence in Brisbane.
“With investments totalling approximately $90 million this project is helping to solidify Brisbane’s reputation as a world-class destination.”
