Ovolo Southside plans to draw more than a crowd with its Blood Donation Drive in collaboration with the Red Cross on Thursday 29th August.
With no blood donation centre located on Hong Kong's Southside, the pioneering hotel is grabbing the bull by the horns and acting now to support those needing fresh blood to recover from treatment, illness, disease or surgery.
“Just one pint of blood could save up to three lives,” says Ovolo COO Tim Alpe. “There is no substitute for the red gold so we are delighted to help support Hong Kong by doing our bit. Eligible women can donate blood up to three times a year whilst men are able to share their haemo-goodness four times a year, so we hope that this event marks the start of a fruitful blood-donating movement.”
From 11.30am – 6.00pm, guests and passers-by alike can drop in and make a blood donation. The only requirements are that donors are in good health, weigh over 41kg, are over the age of 16* and under the age of 66-years-old.
The blood drive will take place at Ovolo Southside's renowned GiG event space with the Ovolo team hopeful the blood drive initiative could help over 300 people. No appointments are necessary and each donation takes only 45 minutes. Each participant will be gifted a complimentary wine voucher by Ovolo as a way of saying thanks for their meaningful contribution to Hong Kong.
* first-time donors between ages 16 and 17 will need parental consent.
