A Frank Lloyd Wright designed home has opened in Pennsylvanias Polymath Park Resort adding to his existing properties in the State which include Kentuck Knob and Fallingwater.
Duncan House, a 1957 Usonian home is one of only four in the country where you can actually spend the night and experience the Wright lifestyle.
Built in 1957, the Wright-designed home was dismantled from its original location in Lisle, Illinois and moved to Polymath Park Resort, Pennsylvania. Duncan House is complemented by two other Usonian-style homes that were designed for the original 1960s vision of Polymath Park by Wrights apprentice, Peter Berndtson. After many months of complex craftsmanship, the home has re-emerged as a stellar example of Wrights Usonian designs.
Duncan Houses tours and lodging provides first-hand experience of Wrights vision. One of only four Wright buildings to offer overnight lodging, Duncan House is uniquely positioned to attract international visitors. It is convenient to Pittsburgh and easily accessible from the Washington D.C. area, as well as being a short day trip from many metropolitan areas. Duncan House at Polymath Park Resort is close to Wrights Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob as well as Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Hidden Valley Four Seasons Resort and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa and stands as one of the Laurel Highlands newest attractions in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Polymath Park Resort consists of 125 acres of Allegheny Mountain terrain. True to the organic style of Wright, Polymath Park Resort is the perfect place to unwind and get back in touch with nature. A majestic wooded surroundings provide a naturally dramatic backdrop for outdoor events such as retreats and weddings or for outdoor adventure such as hiking and whitewater rafting in the Laurel Highlands area.

Organic Architecture:
Frank Lloyd Wright introduced the word organic into his philosophy of architecture as early as 1908. It was an extension of the teachings of his mentor Louis Sullivan whose slogan form follows function became the mantra of modern architecture. Wright changed this phrase to form and function are one, using nature as the best example of this integration.
Although the word organic in common usage refers to something which has the characteristics of animals or plants, Frank Lloyd Wrights organic architecture takes on a new meaning. It is not a style of imitation, because he did not claim to be building forms which were representative of nature. Instead, organic architecture is a reinterpretation of natures principles as they had been filtered through the intelligent minds of men and women who could then build forms which are more natural than nature itself.
Organic architecture involves a respect for the properties of the materialsyou dont twist steel into a flowerand a respect for the harmonious relationship between the form/design and the function of the building(Extract: Frank Lloyd Wright and the Principles of Organic Architecture By Kimberly Elman)
