The MCB Tour Championship is once again upon us with the press conference and welcome cocktail function now a thing of the past. Proceedings began with a very short humour-filled press conference. Some of the big names in the field were introduced and given the opportunity to reflect on 2014 and the MCB Tour Championship. 

Marc Farry pointed out that based on the number of winner's from various tournaments, the European Order of Merit, as well as Ryder Cup winners and captains the strength of this year's field was the best ever.

Lasts year's winner, Paul Wesselingh, was reminiscent of last years great win while playing the final round with Colin Montgomerie. Winning the John Jacobs Trophy, which is the Order of Merit for the European Seniors Tour, beside the 8 times European Order of Merit winner, was a career highlight for him.

Sam Torrance with his token short quirky answers and three-time winner of the John Jacobs Trophy alluded to Monty's great year. He also made reference to the fact that Marc Farry was one of the key catalysts for the initiation, and success of the event and all participants were grateful to him for that.

The star of the show Colin Montgomerie, having had a fantastic 2014, and guaranteed to lift the John Jacobs trophy come Sunday, was naturally in high spirits. On only his second visit to Constance Belle Mare Plage and the MCB Tour Championship he said it already felt like a home away from home. He also acknowledged the numerous sponsors who supported the tournament and made it possible.

The evening's cocktail party was a grand affair, with a live band that entertained the crowd late into the night, while waiters made their way through the excited attendees offering them tasty finger-foods. Formalities were kept short with a welcome and introduction of the sponsors done by Constance Hotels & Resorts CEO Jean-Jacques Vallet. The entire team from Constance Belle Mare Plage, who make the event possible, were then invited on stage and introduced to everyone.

And so the fourth edition of the MCB Tour Championship is under way, with lots to look forward to both on and off the course.
