Politicians, passengers and pets will all be part of the long awaited Spirit of Tasmania III inaugural sailing from Sydney to Devonport tomorrow (13 January 2004) departing Darling Harbour at 3.00pm.

The striking red and white ship has enjoyed a flurry of excitement, journeying from Greece to Hobart, where it underwent refurbishment, and travelling on to Devonport, Melbourne and finally, Sydney.

The vessel sailed into Sydney Harbour on 7 January with much fanfare, accompanied by a flotilla of boats and masses of people welcoming the new Sydney ship.

Fireworks and festivities along Darling Harbour have all been part of the ship�s welcome celebrations in Sydney during the last week as Captain and crew make final preparations for the inaugural voyage.

Tasmanian Premier Jim Bacon, other dignitaries and Spirit of Tasmania Chairman Mr Nick Evers will take part in the voyage with the ship scheduled to arrive into Devonport at 11.30am on 14 January 2004.
