OMO7 Kochi by Hoshino Resorts will be open to guests from Thursday, 13 June 2024, the first OMO hotel in Shikoku as the brand expands its portfolio to encourage deeper exploration of urban culture in cities throughout Japan.
Situated in the heart of Kochi, OMO7 Kochi has been established to showcase the vibrant history of the city, and the endearing characteristics of its local people and culture. The grand staircase extending from the first to second floor is a standout feature of the hotel's design, and where guests can enjoy conversations on the tiered seating.
Offering the full suite of services that the OMO brand is known for, such as local guide activities, a curated neighbourhood map and a traveller's fun lounge, OMO7 Kochi is also equipped with a restaurant, café and large communal bath facilities.
The number in an OMO hotel name represents its capacity of services, from 1 for capsule hotels to 7 for full-service hotels. This allows travellers to find an option that best fits their travel goals and budget.
A unique style of dance that first originated in Kochi in 1954, Yosakoi is a much-loved performance that has grown in popularity at festivals and events across the country. Luckily for OMO7 Kochi's guests, they can watch a 'Yosakoi Festival Show' every evening at the OMO Base. This nightly event will feature staff members giving performances with dazzling choreography by a leading figure in Yosakoi dance.
OMO Rangers are hotel staff that gather information about the surrounding neighbourhood and present it on the 'Go-KINJO Map' at the OMO Base. This allows guests to immerse themselves in Kochi's culture through special recommendations that aren't well known or found in travel guidebooks. This service is unique to the OMO brand where guests can be guided through specialised tours or make their own discoveries to have fun in ways they never expect.
After a day of exploring, there's no better place to relax and unwind than soaking in a warm bath. OMO7 Kochi's communal bath facilities are comprised of an indoor and open-air bath, and a sauna. The design of the outdoor bath draws inspiration from Kochi's rich, natural landscapes while the relaxation area offers a taste of Kochi's seasons through refreshing drinks made with local citrus fruit.
To taste the cuisine that is distinctive to Kochi, the restaurant offers culinary specialties such as straw-grilled bonito fish and straw-grilled beef, and desserts with freshly fried sweet potato sticks. The café has a wide range of affordable snacks and satisfying dishes that can be enjoyed anywhere within the establishment, whether it's inside the cafe or on the grand staircase at the OMO base.
OMO7 Kochi has eight different room options that can be tailored to a guest's travel goals. Whilst all rooms are designed with relaxation in mind, the “Utage Suite” is a special room with a theme inspired by Kochi's banquet culture known as “Okyaku.” To replicate this experience for its guests, hotel staff can prepare a spread of local snacks and sake for friends and family to gather and enjoy in the comfort of their hotel room.
