Saturday, September 11, 9:30-11:30 am Remembrance: Healing Art September 11, 2001 left it's mark on all our hearts. Join us in making a collective shrine of remembrance to exhibit at the Museum's education annex, 123 Grant Avenue. Bring a memento or offering to add to our group artwork and create and object with personal symbols for healing and renewal to take home.
Saturday, October 9 9:30 -11:30 am Long Live Still Life Paintings! Using Marsden Hartley's and other Modernists' work in the exhibition as inspiration, participants will create their own still life arrangements and paint them. Bring your own flower, fruit, vase or interesting object to be in the still life.
Saturday, November 20, 9:30-11:30 am Abstraction from Nature The early American Modernists including Georgia O'Keeffe and members of the Stieglitz Circle experimented with painting identifiable objects that left out details, simplified or rearranged visual elements to create abstractions. Families can discover these techniques after seeing the examples of this process in the works of O'Keeffe, Marin, Hartley, Dove, Stieglitz and Strand.

Held in conjunction with the exhibition, In the American Grain, this teachers' workshop includes interdisciplinary hands-on lessons emphasizing creative process skills, literacy through the arts, arts integration techniques, and practical applications for higher-order thinking within the classroom curriculum.
