Stubborn Mule Travel are offering an amazing new trek in Nepal which is opening in October, with the start of the trekking season.
This is a 7 day trek in the Lamjung Himal, one of the most spectacular sections of the Himalayas that is right next to the Annapurnas but so far remains completely off the beaten track. We have developed this route as an alternative to trekking in the Annapurnas which, whilst fabulous, is very busy, with jeeps now able to drive around the Annapurna Circuit. By contrast this trek takes you through an incredible landscape of rhododendron forest, terraced fields and dramatic waterfalls to Baraha Pokhari (lake) yet with pretty much no other trekkers. There are stunning views over the Manaslu Range, Machapuchare (Fishtail Mountain) and the Annapurnas.
As this is completely off the beaten track, there are no tea houses in the area so you need to camp every night in a series of increasingly lovely locations, peaking with the campsite by Baraha Lake. A picture is attached to give you an idea of the view from the lake.
The maximum altitude is 3,100m (although there is the option to climb to a viewpoint at 3,400m) so altitude sickness is unlikely to be an issue, making this an ideal trek for beginners or families.
A 9 day trip to Nepal, including this 7 day trek, costs £750 per person (minimum 2 people) excluding international flights (from £650). This includes all accommodation, food whilst on the trek, mountain guide, porters and local transport.

Stubborn Mule Travel specialise in arranging tailor-made tours for families to Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Having travelled extensively with children ourselves, we use that experience and knowledge to create unique itineraries that are tailored to the specific ages and interests of each family. To keep the kids engaged we arrange travel not only by bus but also by tuk tuk, train, boat, canoe, elephant, donkey, bamboo raft or camel; we use hotels with pools wherever possible so that there is somewhere to cool off after a day exploring; we include activities that fire the imagination such as cycling around a lake in Burma, climbing to a remote cave in Cambodia to watch the sunset, tracking lions on safari in Tanzania and riding a bullock cart around a village in Sri Lanka.
