Popular Queenstown resort Oaks Shores, part of Oaks Hotels & Resorts' property network, is turning heads with the launch of its brand new dining experience, Shores Restaurant, and unveiling of its new prototype apartment, as the property embarks on a major refurbishment program that will strengthen its position as one of the region's most sought-after holiday destinations.
Formerly Seasons Restaurant & Bar, the recently unveiled Shores Restaurant boasts a fresh look and feel, perfectly complemented by a new breakfast, dinner, tapas and wine menu created by executive chef Frank Bergiseker that offers a diversity of culinary experiences set against a stunning Lake Wakatipu backdrop.
The extensive restaurant revamp also included new music, lighting and heating systems, flooring, paint and furniture.
The spacious, open-plan venue is effortlessly balanced by warm and rustic tones, achieved through polished timber floors, soft lighting, natural furnishings and wooden feature walls. On entry, a cozy lounge area welcomes guests where they can enjoy a coffee or pre-dinner drink by the fire, while contemporary cowhide ottomans and stools line the stacked-stone bar, accompanied by woven pendant lights. The restaurant boasts floor to ceiling windows, ensuring every seat in the house boasts breathtaking and uninterrupted views over Lake Wakatipu and the mountain ranges beyond.
Guests are spoiled for choice with the new and carefully considered food and beverage menus, combining new and favourite flavours for an exciting dining experience every time. Breakfast can be enjoyed buffet style, while the new tapas menu is the perfect way to sample meals with friends and family from 4.00pm – 11.00pm daily. Dinner promises a myriad of must-try dishes, like green lip mussels steamed in a Thai coconut, chili, lemongrass and coriander broth as an entrée, or herb and Dijon mustard crusted rack of South Island lamb, served on roast garlic kumara puree, baby beets, beans & rosemary jus, and roasted duck breast with homemade pumpkin gnocchi as mains. The hand-selected wine list also features a medley of outstanding accompaniments for each and every meal.
Oaks Shores' serviced-apartment accommodation offering is also set to receive an upgrade, with the new apartment prototype also unveiled this week, boasting new furnishings, two 50-inch flat screen TVs, king-size bed, modern bathroom and floor to ceiling windows. All hotel rooms and apartments have already received new TVs and will be completely refurbished after the busy ski season wraps up.
Oaks Hotels & Resorts' CEO Brett Pointon commented, “The re-launch of Shores Restaurant is an exciting step in Oaks Shores' refurbishment program, giving guests and visitors alike a fresh and convenient dining option when staying for leisure or business. Our prototype apartment has received excellent feedback since its launch, with guests commenting on its light and contemporary ambience, quality finishes and luxurious appointments. We look forward to proceeding with the remaining accommodation refurbishment later this year.”
