Hotel prices in Manchester have increased by 68 per cent for the Final of the Rugby League World Cup 2013, which will take place at the 75,731-capacity Old Trafford stadium on Saturday 30th November. According to the trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI) reported monthly by hotel comparison site www.trivago.co.uk, an overnight stay will cost an average of £181. This is a 68 per cent increase from the monthly average of £108.

The quarter final between England and France will take place on Saturday 16th November at Wigan's DW Stadium. Although there is no significant increase in hotel prices in Wigan, hotel prices have increased by 35 per cent in nearby Liverpool and 27 in nearby Manchester. One night on the 16th will cost an average of £118 in Liverpool and £137 in Manchester, compared to the monthly averages of £87 and £108 respectively.

In comparison, there is no significant increase in hotel prices for the semi-finals, which will take place at London's Wembley Stadium on Saturday 23rd November.

Hotel Prices Decrease by up to 45% across Europe

Hotel prices have decreased across Europe in comparison to last month. One night in November will cost an average of £90, in comparison to £103 in October. The most significant decreases can be found in the Italian destinations of Venice (down 45 per cent to an average of £115 per night), Rome (down 32 per cent to £93) and Florence (down 31 per cent to £95).

Also down in comparison to last month are Barcelona (down 27 per cent to £91), Prague (down 24 per cent to £69) and Frankfurt (also down 24 per cent to £93).

European hotel prices have increased by an average of 5 per cent in comparison to this time last year. Most notable is Warsaw, where hotel prices have increased by 40 per cent in comparison to November 2012 to an average of £76 per night. Also significant are Amsterdam and Dublin, where prices have increased by 14 per cent to an average of £120 and £84 respectively.

In the UK, hotel prices have increased year-on-year by 12 per cent in Norwich (average of £92 per night), 10 per cent in Cambridge (£109 per night) and 9 per cent in London (£175 per night).
