New iOS App Allows Globe Trotters to Keep Track of the World's Most Interesting Places
NOTED has launched an intuitive and essential app for people who want to remember the best places to eat, stay, and play at home and abroad. Today’s equivalent of a travel scrapbook, NOTED allows users to “note” their must-visit places in the moment they read or hear about them.
Whether you read about a new, boutique hotel in Istanbul in a magazine or on a website, watch a feature on Sao Paulo’s emerging art district, or a friend recommends a new pop-up restaurant in Manhattan, NOTED allows you to remember these places in three easy steps – just enter the city, the name of the establishment and choose from the categories “eat”, “stay” and play”.
NOTED users curate their lists over time, find them easily when they want to try one out, and share them with friends anytime, anywhere.
The free IOS app – which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and used on an iPhone or iPad – was created by two New York entrepreneurs and global travel enthusiasts, Tiffany Winter and Oliver Laubscher.
“As we went about our day-to-day life, we would hear or read about must-go’s in various places around the world,” Tiffany said. “We found ourselves scribbling them on napkins, or more often in our iPhone notes, only to lose or forget them. We created NOTED so those lost travel notes would be a thing of the past. With this app, we (and others like us) can now build our own travel guides with the best places to eat, stay and play.”
How NOTED works:
Store – NOTED allows you to “note” (on your iPhone or iPad) places you would like to remember the moment you hear, read or experience them. NOTED uses the Foursquare API to pull in the address, contact number and photo, if available.
Curate – Once logged into NOTED, you can add additional information to your notes to remind you why it was special enough to note down; such as who recommended it, any tags to help categorize further, and any other comments you want to remember.
Search – NOTED filter system means you can find your notes easily. Search by name, category, location, tags and recommended by.
Map – If NOTED manages to pull in Foursquare details on the location, your note will be plotted on a map. This makes it easy to see what places are near you. Or it can help you plan an itinerary when visiting a new city by showing you where all your notes are in relation to one another.
Share – NOTED let’s you share individual notes via Facebook, Twitter, email and text, with whomever you choose. All notes are private, unless you choose to tell someone about it.
NOTED is compatible with any iPhone®, iPad®, or iPod® Touch with iOS 5.1 or greater and is available for free in the iTunes Store as NOTED Places.
