Low cost airline Norwegian will introduce the UK's only direct flight to the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico this winter, with fares from £179 one way.
Flights to San Juan will launch on 4 November 2015 and will operate twice per week from London Gatwick using brand new 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The flights will depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout winter 2015/6.
Norwegian is now the third largest airline at London Gatwick, offering direct flights to 34 destinations including Berlin, Madrid, Oslo and New York. Since launching their innovative low cost flights to America last year over 200,000 passengers have flown with Norwegian on services to and from London Gatwick.
Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer for Norwegian, said: “The response we've had on our intercontinental destinations has been overwhelming and it is obvious that affordable fares were scarce before Norwegian entered the market.
“This makes it even more enjoyable to add more destinations to our route map of more than 100 destinations. We are looking forward to welcoming new and returning customers on our new routes between London Gatwick and the Caribbean.”
About Puerto Rico
Norwegian's new flight from Gatwick will be popular among sun- and adventure seekers. Puerto Rico offers a combination of culture, relaxation and nature – with one of the Caribbean's earliest colonial cities located at San Juan, 270 miles of pristine beaches and three 'bio bays' where rare Bioluminescence can be viewed in their natural habitat. The island is also the perfect start for an affordable island hopping break to the nearby British Virgin Islands.
