September is traditionally the start of the Northern Lights season and this year they appeared right on cue, with Havila Voyages' guests being treated to a spectacular display off the coast of Norway this week. 

The first 'significant' showing of the lights this year could be seen along the coast of Northern Norway and far up into the Arctic Circle, delighting all the passengers on-board.

Havila Voyages' ships offer the perfect place to explore the Arctic skies, as they sail away from the light pollution on land. Passengers can stay warm in the on-board jacuzzi while they watch the skies dance, or head to the lounge, where a glass roof and reclining chairs allow them to relax and enjoy uninterrupted views.

While the lights can be seen from September onwards, the coastal cruise company is so confident that guests travelling from October to March will experience the natural phenomenon, that they offer a 'Northern Lights Promise'. If the lights don't appear during their 11 night cruise, guests will be given a free six or seven night cruise the following winter.

Holidaymakers wishing to witness the magical light show for themselves can book the 11 day Round Voyage from Bergen to Bergen (via Kirkenes) from just £1,058 per person (in an interior cabin) on full board basis. The price is subject to availability and valid on a wide range of departure dates in October and November 2023. Flights are not included.

A wide range of organised excursions are offered during the winter months such as king crab fishing in a frozen fjord, dogsledding in the Arctic wilderness or snowmobiling across the North Cape Plateau.
