The Baie de Somme, Cap Gris-Nez & Cap Blanc Nez (Pas-de-Calais) and the Dunes de Flandre (Nord) are teaming up to promote low season, slow tourism.
Easily accessible from the UK, the three sites that have been awarded the label Grand Site de France are all protected as "natural monuments and sites of artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque value".

- Learning about Operation Dynamo in Dunkerque and the Atlantic Wall fortifications
- Enjoying the catch of the day and sampling a local craft beer
- Walking the coastal path between Gris-Nez and Blanc-Nez cliffs
- Catching sight of the Dover White Cliffs
- Sailing on a canoe to meet the seal rookery
- Boarding the Baie de Somme steam train for an out of time journey
- Getting a thrill out of wind and water sports : sand yachting, kite surfing, stand-up paddle
- Walking along the Belle Epoque seafront and savouring mussels and chips on a terrasse facing the sea
What's new in the region in 2018 :
- Nausicaa National sealife centre triples its surface and becomes one of the world's largest aquarium
- Cambrai Tank 1917 opens its doors on 15th
Deborah Mark IV British tank is the centrepiece of the museu, telling the story of the November 1917 Battle of Cambrai
- La Piscine, former art deco swimming pool turned into a museum of Art and industry undergoes major refurbishment to reopen in the Autumn 2018 with a wider exhibition area
- Exciting new hotels and restaurants are opening
- Major commemorations will be held to mark the Centenary of the end of WW1
