Norfolk Festivals Out in September

Visit Norfolk

Norfolk plans squeezing every last drop out of the summer with an unprecedented number of festivals scheduled for September.

The 10th and largest-yet annual Norfolk Food and Drink Festival will be celebrated across the county with more than 600 events, including Norwich Restaurant Week, the North Norfolk Weekend at historical Holkham Hall, the Battle of the Bangers, Pop Up Producers Weekend at Hoveton Hall and Porkstock!

The Wells Pirate Festival will be held September 12-14.  The annual three-day pirate party is filled with buccaneers, scallywags and salty sea dogs with pirate activities and events for the whole family. This is the annual fundraiser for Wells Maltings Trust, working to transform the Maltings building in Wells into an exciting new arts, heritage and community facility.

Meanwhile in Great Yarmouth the Out There festival will follow hot on the heels of the town's 15th annual Maritime Festival.   Some of the best known international shanty and folk singers will perform at the Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival over the weekend of September 6 and 7 as the town celebrates its proud maritime past with visiting ships - notably the tall ships Minerva (which will operate sailing trips) and Tres Hombres.  There will also be plenty of street entertainment, arts, crafts and children's activities.

The Out ThereInternational Festival of Circus & Street Arts will run Sept 17-21 at various locations in the town.  Around 50 acts and 150 performances will showcase some of the brightest young UK artists as well as internationally renowned acts such as Compagnie Les Philébulistes - one of France's most exciting young circus companies - which will bring a huge ship-like circus rig to the seafront to provide a dizzying acrobatic spectacular.

Finally, A Brush with the Broads, the UK'sfirst four-Day Plein Air Painting Festival will take place September 25-29 with opportunities for members of the public to paint the iconic Norfolk Broads and then be exhibited and maybe win a cash prize, or simply attend all the exciting events taking place.

Summer may be nearly over for the rest of the country but throughout September Norfolk will still be providing plenty of sunshine.
