NOBU InterContinental Hong Kong Presents a Robert Mondavi Wine Dinner with Mrs. Margrit Mondavi on November 13, 2013

On Wednesday, November 13h, NOBU InterContinental Hong Kong will partner with Robert Mondavi Winery for a special evening with Mrs. Margrit Mondavi, Vice President, Cultural Affairs, Robert Mondavi Winery and Mr. Mark De Vere of Robert Mondavi Winery and also Director & Master of Wine for Constellation Wines USA.

 

The inspirational Margrit Mondavi, an octogenarian with endless energy and enthusiasm, returns to Hong Kong to host this special evening introducing Mondavi’s premium wines from Napa Valley, California. (She was last in Hong Kong in May 2011 for a special wine dinner at the hotel’s STEAK HOUSE winebar + grill.)

 

The evening begins with a reception in NOBU Bar Lounge with Mrs. Mondavi and Mr. De Vere introducing their wines as Fume Blanc Reserve 2011 is served.   A highlight of the dinner will be a Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2001 served in a Methuselah (6 Liter bottle), which will be paired with King Crab, shiso salsa. Other noteworthy wines on the menu include the 1981 and 1992 vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon Reserves, which are not readily available in Hong Kong.

 

The dinner will showcase the following Robert Mondavi Wines:

·         FUME BLANC RESERVE   2009

·         CHARDONNAY RESERVE   2009

·         CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVE – 6 LITRE   2001

·         CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVE   1992

·         SAUVIGNON BLANC BOUTRYTIS 2001

 

NOBU Executive Chef Oyvind Naesheim has created an 8-course menu paired perfectly with the Mondavi wines. Guests can save Nobu-san’s innovative new style Japanese cuisine including:

·         HAMACHI SASHIMI / tosazu

·         NAMA TORO SASHIMI / yuzu miso

·         YUZU SORBET

·         KING CRAB / shiso salsa

·         LAMB CHOP / rosemary miso

·         A5 JAPANESE WAGYU BEEF / sea salt pepper

·         SUSHI ASSORTMENT

·         VANILLA TAMAGO CRÈME / mandarin sake soup

Mrs.  Margrit Mondavi

Margrit Biever Mondavi is Vice President of Cultural Affairs at Robert Mondavi Winery.                 A pioneering woman of the modern-day California wine industry, she joined the winery in 1967, pursuing a life-long interest in uniting wine with fine arts, music and culinary artistry.  Under her direction, Robert Mondavi Winery developed original cultural and culinary arts programmes that are now benchmarks for the wine world.  With the enthusiastic support of her late husband, Robert G. Mondavi, she created a showplace for painters, sculptors, photographers, jazz and classical musicians and the great chefs and winemakers of the world.

 

Mr. Mark De Vere

Mark De Vere, Constellation Wines’ US Master of Wine, Mark presents fine wine educational programmes to consumers and wine trade audiences around the world.  With the Constellation Academy of Wine, he is constantly learning, training and educating. He is also North American Education Director for the Institute of Masters of Wine and participates as a judge at wine competitions internationally.
