No More 'Grudge Purchases' With The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Signature Experiences

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

In line with its value proposition of being a world-class facility that endeavours to offer flexibility and innovation in its products and services to meet the evolving needs of the local and international meetings industry, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) has introduced several new signature experiences for meeting planners. In particular, the Centre's DCPs with a Difference addresses the 'grudge' purchases that many clients have voiced out over the years.

'Grudge' purchases are industry jargon for audio-visual and technical equipment which are not normally reflected in the initial costs quoted for meetings and events by the venue manager," explained Ms Angeline Lue, Director of Sales & Marketing, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

"Mindful of this, we have expanded our Day Conference Packages (DCPs) offering DCPs with a Difference. We have now incorporated most of the items you would normally pay for independently into the Daily Conference Package.

We have sweetened the deal to include unrivalled audio and visual (A/V) support such as a complimentary Notebook, presentation pointer, lapel and wireless microphones, DVD player, and laptop interfaces, complemented by enhanced food and beverage (F&B) offerings of sorbet ice-cream, pastries and yoghurt.

Ms Lue said that the Centre has always advocated value-adds for its various products and services to eliminate as many unplanned cost lines as possible. "We are confident the various packages introduced under DCPs with a Difference will be well-received by clients who are always keen to support venues that demonstrate value and are cognisant of their meetings budget.

Other new signature experiences include TenOnCall PLUS, 5-Star Banqueting, Snack on Arrival and its enhanced Cultural Showcase.

TenOnCall PLUS extends the Centre's very popular TenOnCall offering to three more function areas; each with their personal free-flow lifestyle cuisine and beverage service but varying in size, and with their own unique environment such as natural lighting, and dedicated private meeting room and smoking area.

"5-Star Banqueting," explained Ms Lue, "goes the extra mile for guests who wish to enjoy a unique and exclusive banqueting experience at the Centre with value-adds that include customised menus, foyer decoration of sway cloth drapes and ice-cravings, a butler service for VIP tables and sophisticated place settings such as silver service.".

And cognisant of the importance of a good breakfast; especially for people who are always on the run,  Snack on Arrival means  busy clients can now grab a complimentary quick bite, complete with a steaming cup of coffee or tea and one of the Centre's famed 'energiser shots' to ensure a great start to the day!.

Under its current Conventions Value-Add Programme, the Centre offers event planners of all international association meetings above 500 pax a complimentary programme worth an estimated RM100,000. The Programme incorporates the Centre's unique Cultural Showcase of eight Malaysian arts and crafts, site inspection support, pre-function meetings plus a cocktail reception or a press conference hosted by the Centre.

"We have now enhanced the Cultural Showcase with three new elements, henna-painting, Chinese calligraphy, and a visit to the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers Sky Bridge. The showcase is aimed at providing delegates with an interactive, participatory experience that highlights Malaysia's multi-cultural diversity as well as its arts and craft heritage. Each confirmed convention will receive 10 complimentary tickets to the PETRONAS Twin Towers' Sky Bridge for a truly 'birds' eye' view of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and its surrounds.

"As the city's and country's leading convention facility, we are committed to continuously address the needs and demands of our guests by improving and enhancing our product offerings innovatively. We are confident our signature experiences will enhance our profile as a client-centric venue constantly striving to deliver more value and benefits to our clients," concluded Ms Lue.
