Day-of Celebrations on July 4th
The holiday kicks off with the 15th Annual 4th of July is for Families Bike Parade on the popular Newport Beach Peninsula, free and open to the public from 9-11am. The beloved Old Glory Boat Parade winds through Newport Harbor, where spectators line the waterfront to watch flag-draped vessels glide past in a display of nautical patriotism that is uniquely, unmistakably Newport. At 9pm, fireworks erupt off of Newport Pier, reflecting across the ocean in a setting that looks straight out of a painting.

Weekend-Long Festivies
The festivities begin early at Lido Marina Village, Newport Beach's premiere waterfront shopping and dining destination. From July 2-3, guests can stroll the harborfront to live performances from a Patriotic Brass Quartet, browse local boutiques with extended shopping hours until 7 p.m., and dine waterside as the sun sets over the bay. It's a leisurely, sophisticated way to ease into the holiday weekend. For those who want to spend the holiday on the water, Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort delivers with its annual Independence Day on the Back Bay celebration from July 3-5. The three-day event features live music, food trucks, kayaking, paddleboarding, Duffy boat cruises, and an Inflatable Aquatic Park for the kids, all building toward a spectacular fireworks display over the Back Bay at 9pm on July 4th.

Beyond the Fourth: 90th Annual Flight of Newport Beach
The patriotic spirit carries into the following weekend with the 90th Annual Flight of Newport Beachon July 12th, one of Southern California's most iconic maritime traditions. Organized by the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, this year's regatta is themed around "Freedom" to align with the nation's 250th anniversary. Registration is entirely free for all participants. Sailors from Harbor 20, ILCA, and RS Tera fleets will race a course circumnavigating Newport's scenic bay and will start near the historic Balboa Pavilion. Every registered racer receives a limited-edition 90th Anniversary T-shirt, raffle entry, and a chance to win premium sailing gear.
