There are more than 300 days to Christmas, but flights to visit Santa in Lapland this Christmas are already filling up, according to booking data analysis by Newmarket Holidays.

At the Swedish Lapland resort of Pajala, which is exclusively served by Newmarket Holidays, capacity is limited to just one aircraft per day and places to meet Santa and his elves during the festive season are in high demand. 

A review of booking trends at 14 airports across the UK shows that festive flights from Belfast International, Norwich and Humberside are selling fastest, ahead of Pajala flights from Gatwick, Glasgow, Luton and Birmingham. 

The operator says that concerns about price rises later in the year, plus early booking discounts that are available until the end of February, are encouraging families to pin down their Christmas plans early.
