Gay-Oriented Urban Resort Thrives on 42nd Street in the Heart of New York City
New York, NY: On March 1, 2012, THE OUT NYC revolutionized New York City's hospitality landscape as the city's first straight-friendly urban resort. This ground-breaking new hotel on Manhattan's west side has continued to surpass all expectations having attracted guests from around the world.
The complex is situated on 42nd Street in the heart of Manhattan, just steps from New York's world-renowned theaters of Broadway and the bright lights of Times Square. It encompasses a 105-room boutique hotel, the 14,000 square foot XL Nightclub, Cabaret & Lounge by John Blair, Beto Sutter, and FV Events, a three meal-per-day and late-night dining option called KTCHN Restaurant, private dining facilities, several unique outdoor spaces, function space and a wellness center.
Open seven nights a week, XL Nightclub, Cabaret & Lounge is the first nightly gay dance club to open in New York City in 15 years and features the largest LED wall in any nightclub in the city at 35-feet, two dance floors and a full stage. It has attracted A-list performances, celebrity visitors, world-renowned DJs, countless events, and has welcomed over 200,000 visitors in the first three months alone. Everyone from James Franco and Justin Timberlake to Anderson Cooper and Alan Cummings have come to enjoy the club, while DJs like Manny Lehman, Tony Moran, Tracy Young, and Paolo spin at this premier venue.
The hotel has an upscale chic décor and a starting rate of approximately $250 with Quad luxury shared accommodations starting at $99 per bed per night. THE OUT NYC offers various types of function space to accommodate everything from intimate private dinners to large meetings and weddings. Some of the outstanding events held at THE OUT NYC have included gay weddings - two officiated by Fran Drescher of the famous The Nanny sitcom, straight weddings, and even an award ceremony for New York's iconic Rockettes. The building is centered on three courtyards equipped with two waterfalls, a Great Lawn, reflecting pool, two hot tubs, and three cabanas. The hotel also features REVIVE, a 5,000 square foot spa oasis equipped with a gym, treatment room, hammam and sauna to create a sanctuary from the fast pace of the Big Apple.
TIME Magazine raved, "I'll never spend the night in a straight hotel again." The New York Times calls THE OUT, "the biggest, blingiest and most brazen [gay-oriented hotel in New York]," and praised, "Every employee I encountered was friendly. The staff was pretty much universally attractive, too."
KTCHN Restaurant, the on-site café and restaurant offering modern American cuisine with Mediterranean influences, is helmed by Executive Chef Dale Schnell, who comes to the restaurant from his post as the executive chef of the celebrated Setai Fifth Avenue. KTCHN Restaurant features a casual and bustling street-facing café, seating 35, as well as plush dining room, seating 100. The front café consists of an aluminum floor, glass tabletops, and a marble bar all framed by a lit proscenium that gives the space a sleek, dramatic vibe. The larger dining room is sumptuously appointed with chenille fabrics and bamboo floors, creating an elegantly tranquil ambience.
"This is an idea whose time has come. What makes THE OUT NYC a desirable urban resort is the culture, sense of community, comfort level, and tailored amenities for both gay and straight travelers," said Ian Reisner, Managing Partner, Parkview Developers. "We are overwhelmed, but not surprised by the incredibly positive response we've seen to date. We look forward to continued success at THE OUT NYC and hope to continue our growth into other markets."
