Heritage Le Telfair has appointed a specialist Wellness Experience Coordinator to oversee the hotel's wellness offerings.
The 'Wellness Guru' is a young French osteopath, Matthieu Gossart, who aims to increase the already impressive wellness offerings at Heritage Le Telfair and to develop the resort into a prime wellness destination.
Matthieu studied osteopathy for five years at the Collège Ostéopathique Sutherland in Paris, after which he worked in a multidisciplinary medical practice in the north of France for six years.
After several years as an osteopath Matthieu decided to adopt a more holistic approach with his patients, studying breathing techniques, meditation and nutrition as well as magnetic therapy and psychology.
Matthieu now plans to create a comprehensive wellness schedule to develop Heritage Le Telfair into a leading wellness destination. The idea is that the hotel's clients can come on a retreat and return home feeling rested and reinvigorated, but also with new, specialist knowledge to allow them to continue living healthier lives once back at home.
New Wellness Activities at Heritage Le Telfair
- Matthieu has worked with the hotel's Seven Colours Spa to design three new wellness packages: the “Complete Wellness Experience” a five-day holistic approach to well-being, the “Discovery Wellness Experience” a three-day initiation and the “Body Cure Wellness Experience” a retreat that focuses on getting into shape.
- Two Wellness Breaks are scheduled in early 2017, perfect for those looking to kick-start a healthier lifestyle in the New Year. Dominique Tinjust will host a Pilates week from 21st - 28th January, and Mikael Pulcini will be back on the island for his fourth Wellness Break to teach a Pilates masterclass from March 18th – 25th
Matthieu says, “I not only believe that wellness is a trend that will last, but that it will also attract an increasing number of people. Hectic lives are giving rise to ways of dealing with stress and anxiety in our day to day lives. People want to feel good; they want to be happy. Heritage Le Telfair is setting the trend in Mauritius with its Yoga, Pilates and meditation classes. There will soon be Reiki, Shiatsu and Watsu courses as well, and hopefully even a 200m2 wellness pavilion next year.”
