New Website Reveals Traffic Congestion, Accidents, Fuel Price In Local Boroughs

www.Keepmoving.co.uk

Hot on the heels of online crime levels is a clever site from www.keepmoving.co.uk which details more than you could ever want to know about traffic and travel in your area. Developed in conjunction with mysociety to help local authorities, www.keepmoving.co.uk/government can tell you everything from where your borough ranks in terms of accidents and congestion, to up-to-date travel information from your local station.

Unsurprisingly, despite the congestion charge, the site has revealed that the City of London and Westminster is the constituency with the most congested and accident prone roads in England and Wales.

All information is displayed either by constituency or local authority to give visitors a detailed overview of their area.

www.keepmoving.co.uk/government contains a page for each of the 628 constituencies in England and Wales which features details such as the MP representing them, along with interesting facts such as how many times theyve used transport related words in debates and what questions theyve posed to the Department of Transport.

www.keepmoving.co.uk/government shows that the majority of the top ten most accident prone roads are in constituencies based in the South East:- 1. City of London and Westminster 2. Bristol East 3. Luton North 4. Reading West 5. Luton South 6. Vauxhall 7. Birmingham, Ladywood 8. Greenwich and Woolwich 9. Upminster 10. Kensington and Chelsea

The top ten of most congested constituencies also makes for compelling reading:- 1. Cities of London and Westminster 2. Exeter 3. Poplar and Canning Town 4. Cardiff North 5. Bath 6. Bristol West 7. Bristol East 8. Manchester Central 9. Plymouth, Sutton 10. Greenwich and Woolwich

Visitors to the site are able to view any roadworks, incidents or planned closures on any of the roads in their constituency, as well as check live train times. People planning to move to a new area can therefore use the website as a useful resource; checking where train stations are, how frequent trains are, how the constituency ranks in terms of congestion, accidents and fuel prices.

By looking at the questions MPs are putting to the Department of Transport regarding transport in an area, people can see if issues that are important to them are being addressed.

With congested roads an avoidable issue the keepmoving.co.uk time graphs are clear representations of travel times and are a unique way to find out how far you can travel from a chosen point at different times of the day.

The different coloured bands represent three minute intervals - green is within 3 minutes' drive, yellow is six, orange is nine and you can see it change throughout the day, as the weight of traffic shifts.

Alex Petrie, General Manager of Keepmoving.co.uk said: Our new website is a fantastic tool enabling people to see what transport related issues are being raised for them by their MP. Seeing how constituencies compare in terms of the cost of fuel, number of accidents and congestion all helps to equip visitors to the site with important information about their area. We believe that, in creating keepmoving.co.uk/government and making this information public, there is a greater chance that improvements will be made at constituency level.
