Plans for new Roadrunner Rollercoaster 28 Jul 2000
NEW UNIQUE KIDS ROLLERCOASTER FOR CHRISTMAS

Warner Bros. Movie World

The Roadrunner Rollercoaster, situated in the hugely popular Looney Tunes Village, will offer children and their parents a fast, safe and fun new experience.

Chief Executive Officer, John Menzies, said the Australian-first ride would bridge the gap between the gentle rides of Looney Tunes Village and the park's adult thrill rides.

Guests will board the sky rocket themed coaster train at the ACME Fireworks Factory Station along with Wylie Coyote who then proceeds to chase the Roadrunner through the Arizona Mountains in an exciting journey of twists and turns, ups and downs.

"The Roadrunner Rollercoaster is a ride the whole family can enjoy together and is a great experience for kids who aren't quite ready for the Lethal Weapon suspended looping coaster.

"This type of ride has never before been seen in Australia, but a similar Vekoma junior coaster ride that opened recently at Universal Studios in the United States has proven a big hit with people of all ages."

The ride will increase the size of Looney Tunes Village by 30% and, at capacity, will carry up to 1,000 passengers an hour in two 16-seater highly themed trains.

The continuing major capital investment by our owners Village Roadshow, Warner Bros. and the Sea World Property Trust demonstrates the confidence they have in the future of Queensland and Gold Coast tourism.

"Since 1997, Warner Bros. Movie World has introduced three new attractions to cater to the family - Looney Tunes Village, Marvin the Martian in the 3rd Dimension 3D film and, of course, the Wild Wild West Adventure Ride," he said.

"All of these have provided experiences that Mum and Dad can share with the kids, because that's what a day at Warner Bros. Movie World is all about."

Looney Tunes Village, which opened in December 1997 to cater for children under the age of 10, already incorporates six colourful, Looney Tunes themed rides and is extremely popular with children of all ages.

The new ride will be situated in the area previously occupied by the Toon Stage, which has been relocated to the front of the park.
