Tucan Travel

New Brochure for 2014-15

Tucan Travel have released their new brochures for 2014-2015 expanding their range of tours in regions they already operate in and improving tours that have been running for many years.  Their Worldwide Brochure features Adventure and Overland Tours to South and Central America, Antarctica, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa while their Budget Expeditions brochure, this year in an eye-catching purple colour, features tours specifically designed for those aged 18-35 in South America and Asia.

Colombia, where it all began.

On the 25th November 1987, Tucan Travel’s first ever Group Tour left Bogota on an adventure through Colombia that none of its seven original passengers have been able to forget. Today, nearly 26 years later, the original Tour Leaders, Pip and Liliana (of Colombian descent) are still heavily involved in the company that began in Colombia and Tucan Travel are returning and expanding in the emerging travel destination with three new tours of varying length. This expansion signifies the exciting transformation that the country is undergoing and the curiosity of the traveller looking to get under the skin of a country that has taken so many people’s breath away.

Tucan Travel’s new Colombia tours are 9, 14 and 21 days long beginning in Bogota and finishing in Bogota or Cartegena.  Travelling on local buses and collectivos, passengers have the chance to see the real Colombia and meet many communities in areas where tourists do not frequent often while also visiting the country’s highlights including Cartegena, Tayrona National Park and the Parque Arqueologico near San Agustin.

Matt Gannan, CEO of Tucan Travel says “We are delighted to be returning to Tucan Travel’s roots, running tours out of Bogota, so similar to the first tours the company ran in the late 1980s. We predict that Colombia will grow in popularity as word spreads about its lush rainforests, untouched beaches and colonial towns as well as some of the friendliest people in South America. Having travelled the world extensively over many years, Colombia remains one of my favourite destinations and I look forward to seeing a growth in the region.”

Tucan Travel has also expanded their range of successful Budget Expeditions in to Colombia with a tour travelling from Quito via Caracas, reaching Rio de Janeiro in time for Rio Carnival. This allows the young, budget traveller the opportunity to travel in a clockwise direction around South America on one of Tucan Travel’s purpose built expedition vehicles. In a nod towards the company’s history running Group Tours in the region, this epic adventure has been named after the first tour the company ever ran in the region, the Gran Aventura and takes 199 days to complete.

Transylvania Tale

Alongside their new tours to Colombia, Tucan Travel have also launched new tours to Eastern Europe. Named the Transylvania Tale, this tour is 15 days in length and departs Budapest, arriving in Istanbul.  The tour takes the adventure traveller off the beaten track to parts of Eastern Europe few travellers venture to. With horse and carts still on the roads and many fields being worked by hand, this tour offers a rare insight into what all of Europe once looked like and with many medieval towns and villages and historic churches and mosques, the streets are lined with history and it is easy to see why this area of Eastern Europe became Dracula’s stronghold.

What else is new?

Tucan Travel has also increased its range of Add-ons worldwide with some of the most exciting additions being a Ciudad Perdida Trek which can be combined with any of the three new Colombia Adventure Tours, Safari, Gorilla & Chimps in Uganda and a Taste of Rwanda, both of which can be enjoyed from Nairobi.

To mark the release of their new brochures, Tucan Travel have launched a promotion offering up to 30% off their new tours alongside all of their Overland Tours and up to 25% off Adventure Tours and Budget Expeditions worldwide.  Tucan Travel are also offering up to 30% off their India and Nepal Adventure Tours which have been improved greatly with more included highlights added to the itineraries.
