Visit South Devon is this week launching a new holiday offers and discount app to help visitors pack a punch with their pound. Offering a one-stop shop for discounts on local accommodation, food and drink, activities and entertainment, the app has been launched at the start of the school holidays to give a boost to last-minute bookings and to help families make the most of their money over the summer holidays.

Thought to be one of the first apps of its kind to be launched by a Destination Marketing Organisation, the 'South Devon Holiday Offers' app is free to download now on both Apple and Android devices.

Updated daily the app gives visitors and locals the very latest deals and discounts across Southern Devon. Current headline offers include:

·       Up to 50% off holidays at Golden Sands and Dawlish Sands holiday park in Dawlish Warren

·       20% of access to Dartmouth, Totnes and Berry Pomeroy castles

·       Four nights for three offers staying in one of Bovey Castle's luxurious lodges for six, including 20% off dinner, or at Bolberry Farm Cottages in Salcombe (Monday-Thursday)

·       10% off experiences with Sea Kayak Devon and when you book five people the sixth goes free.  

·       2 for 1 entry to Exeter Cathedral

Visitors unfamiliar with the local area can easily find their nearest offer as the app allows you to search for what's close by, taking the hassle out of planning.  

The launch of the app comes at a time when consumers are looking to get the most from their holiday money post the Brexit decision. Sarah Stride, Acting General Manager for Visit South Devon, commented:

“In recent weeks we have seen the pound fall in value, which means that overseas trips are less affordable for UK residents, while visitors from the continent and beyond are able to pick up great deals here in Devon.  

“Our hope is that by launching the 'South Devon Holiday Offers' app now, tourists looking for last minute staycations or trips will be able discover a host of unforgettable experiences and discounts. Whether you're here for a day visit, a short break or a longer holiday there'll be dozens of deals on adventures, attractions, accommodation, food and drink.”        

Posters promoting the 'South Devon Holiday Offers' app will appear in Tourist Information Centres and on board Stagecoach buses across the region throughout the summer.
