Kerala, at the southern tip of India, is considered to be the cleanest and safest state of India.  With a glorious tropical climate, great hotels, miles of palm-fringed, white sand beaches and the tranquil backwaters eco-system, all the ingredients are here for a marvellous holiday.

Stay for three nights in the tranquil backwaters at the Vismaya – full board.  Opened in spring 2014, it is a stylishly restored lakeside house.  It has two luxurious bedrooms, each with a bath garden and swing.  There is a large private infinity pool in the beautiful grounds with native trees and coconut palms. Vismaya offers a 'private for two' option wherein a couple can have exclusive use of the property, included in the price quoted.  Fabulous Keralan cuisine is served and there is complete respect for guests' privacy.  A traditional, fully-serviced houseboat can be hired for a day or overnight for gentle cruising on the backwaters.  The Kerala Backwaters are a chain of lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast (known as the Malabar Coast) of Kerala. The network includes five large lakes fed by canals and rivers.  It's a unique, tranquil eco-system where life is slow-paced and very relaxing.

 Stay for three nights at nearby Mararikulum beach resort – B&B basis. The beach cottages resort of A Beach Symphony  is only  11 miles away and under the same expert ownership as Vismaya.  Converted from a group of fishermen's cottages on Mararikulam beach,  A Beach Symphony consists of four individually styled and superbly appointed cottages offering a delightful beach experience, with marvellous food guaranteed.  A swimming pool was added in 2010. A wide range of  massages and treatments are offered in the recently opened 'Ayur Kutiram' Ayurvedic massage centre.  The beach resort is located on the fabulous, unspoilt, palm-fringed, white-sand Mararikulam beach.

Visits to the bustling town of Alleppey and boat tours on the Vembanad Lake and canals can be arranged.  Fort Kochi makes an interesting day trip.

Exclusive vehicle and driver at guests' disposal are available for local trips.  Flights are available from a choice of UK airports to and from Cochin, the largest city in Kerala.  The first night in India is spent at the luxurious colonial style hotel, Brunton Boatyard, in Cochin.
