Huntsman Springs, a new 1,350-acre resort and nature reserve in the Teton Valley, Idaho, United States, has just opened and is now welcoming guests from the UK. Located close to the acclaimed ski resort of Jackson Hole, and within a short drive to Yellowstone National Park in northwest America, the resort offers a natural retreat where families can enjoy the serenity and beauty of the undeveloped Teton Valley. Created by Jon Huntsman, the second largest philanthropist in the USA, all profits from the development are donated to cancer research.
A four-season destination, activities in the area vary throughout the year from discovering the natural wonders of nearby Grand Teton National Park to world-class fly fishing on the Snake and Teton Rivers. During the winter months there is excellent skiing at nearby Grand Targhee, which boasts more than 500 inches of fresh powder annually, and at world-renowned Jackson Hole in Wyoming. Other activities include hiking and rafting through canyons, waterfalls and the surrounding mountains, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking and horse-riding. Previously populated by cowboys who herded the region's wild horses in the early 1900s, the area is still teeming with wildlife such as wild buffalo, moose, elk, wolves and bears.
Guests can stay in luxurious lodges with expansive views of the Big Hole Mountains and Teton Mountain Range. Each four to six bedroom lodge comes complete with professional grade kitchen, large master suite and junior suites, spacious living room and rustic-style interiors. The resort and the size of the properties are perfect for families and the whole resort philosophy is geared towards getting families to participate in activities together.
The centre piece of Huntsman Springs is an acclaimed par 72 golf course designed by Scotsman David McLay Kidd. Other facilities include a 4,500 sq.ft. Wellness Centre with a state-of-the-art fitness facility, private fitness coaching, and classes on topics such as holistic nutrition, wellness coaching, yoga and more; a two mile board walk across the 1,350 acre wildlife reserve and wetlands, ponds for fishing, ice rink and restaurant. Further developments will include a hotel, additional restaurants, a large outdoor swimming pool, and shops.
The development is the creation of international businessman, four-time cancer survivor and philanthropist Jon Huntsman. Born and raised not far from Huntsman Springs, Jon has always been passionate about the area and has always had a drive to elevate the valley and the community, ensuring that more families and generations to come will enjoy the beautiful place.
Huntsman Springs is located in the picturesque Western town of Driggs, Idaho, just 35 minutes from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. An emerging ski town consisting of a supermarket, several restaurants, an organic food store, cafes, pharmacy, post office, boutiques and bank, the town is a haven for lovers of the outdoors and is home to a thriving community of musicians, painters, photographers, carvers and glassblowers.
Residents and guests from Europe arrive via scheduled flights into Jackson Hole Airport, with United, Delta and American Airlines with routes connecting through New York JFK, Newark, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City, while smaller aircraft are accommodated at Driggs-Reed Memorial Airport, two minutes from the resort.
A four-bedroom Mountain View Lodge costs from £475 per night (sleeping 10) on a self-catering basis. For more information visit www.huntsmansprings.com or call +1 208 313 5222.
